What should my first post be about? Should it be about my new heartache, softball pre-season, my search for a church or how I need to convince my mom we need to move? How about moving. I live near an army base, everyone I've ever known has moved away. I get new friends and neighbors every year. For them, it's normal to move around, and weird if you've lived in the area for more than three years. I on the other hand, have never moved. I've been in the same state, city, town and house my whole life. I need to move away, I'm tired of the same boarded up buildings, restaurants, malls and scenery. Nothing ever changes in Maryland, except it seems like there building new houses everyday... If there was a way to live with my Dad, I think I would. He lives with my step mom in a really nice neighborhood. The problem is, he's part of a 60 years and older community meaning, there are bus stops right around the corner, but the school wouldn't accept his address. The rules of the community is no one under eighteen can live there for more than sixty days at a time, so they don't put them in the school system. I wish there was a way though, too bad.

My mom has to have her section in this post. You may know her as Ladeda, obviously I'm her daughter, you probably know me from there... Well, shes calling me down to clean up, more later!

Hi Em...Mom here. Welcome! I thought I'd clarify the 'moving in with Dad' statement. You told me it was because it would be somewhere different, with different things to do. I can see your wanting that. Just remember, though, the 'grass is always greener' saying. It's true. Your home and surroundings may stay the same here, but you'll be changing. Growing. Your world will expand. Just wait and see.

Hi Emily! Just thought I would come over and show my support on your blog! Your mom is golden, I am sure you are aware of that. And as the saying goes, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Great blog! I'll be back. I am anxious to read what you have to say. BTW - I will be adding you as a link in a couple of days.

Hello, Miss Emily. It's great that you're starting your own blog. Your mother is one of my favorite blog friends - she's a very wise lady.

I read your beginning post with much interest. You chose moving as your first discussion and that interests me a lot. I know moving to your father's condo seems like a good idea if it were possible, but I would think there would be fewer young people in their area. That would be a real bummer! On a realistic note if you could convenience your mother to move where would you like to go? Why do you feel it would be better there? Another thing to think about is that in 5 or 6 years you will be off to college. Is it really fair to ask your mother to move away from what is familiar to her when in such a short time you'll only be with her between school sessions at the most? I'm not making suggestions - I never did that with my own kids - I'm only mentioning things to think about.

It's good to see you starting your own blog. It won't be long until you have lots of young blogger friends. Wishing you the best. I'll be visiting again.

Mary,
What I tried to explain in the post was that, there was a regular neighborhood surrounding my dads houses, which is why, if his address was excepted, it would be no problem for me to catch the bus because kids live right around the block.

Hi Emily,

I am a regular reader of your mom's blog and I enjoy her blog very much, and I also admire the wonderful mother-daughter relationship you guys have.

When you go off to college and come home on the breaks you will so appreciate going back to the home that you grew up in with all the dear memories and familiar neighborhood, something Army families miss out on.

But I also think it is always interesting to imagine what it might be like living somewhere else.

I think it is great that you are blogging and that you already have bloggers who know you.

Good luck!!
Lena

hi Emily, congrats on joining the blogging world. i've always enjoyed reading about you on your Mom's blog. Cheryl is such a beautiful person with a beautiful spirit, and the closeness you two share reminds me of the relationship with my daughter and myself.

my daughter is 29 yrs old now, and is married and living in California. like you, she wanted to live elsewhere because all she knew was MD and her home here, so now she's gotten her wish. she loves CA, and i think she'd stay there, or move to another warm-climate place, but since she's expecting twins, she's going to move back this way later this year after they're born and are old enough to travel.

i definitely understand your feelings about the same-old, same old, and soon enough, you'll be graduating and going to college, off on your own, and you'll find you can't wait to come back home for visits and peace & quiet. *lol* your world will expand as your mom said.

maybe since you can't stay at your dad's for more than 60 days at a time, you could stay with him for a week or two every month for a while; it'd give you a change of scenery. i do agree with Cheryl though--the grass is not always greener on the other side; sometimes it turns out to be astro turf.

i look forward to reading more of your posts. enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Way to go on blogging Emily, I hope you find you like it. Writing about most things brings order to them for me, and the friends I have found here, like your mom, is a wonderful bonus!

I think you are a lucky girl, although I understand you wanting something different. I remember very well being your age, and for the most part, the memories are of wanting something...anything...more, different, better. It passes, and soon, you will be old enough to do as you please. The funny thing for me was that as soon as I had different, I wanted my home back again. Family is what it's all about, at least in my world.

I wish the best of luck with your blogging, and in these years of high school. I think you are a beautiful girl with a wonderful family, and you obviously have everything going for you. Your life will be so wonderful, you just wait and see!
